Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

The Flexmeter D30 Double Sided wrist guards provide exceptional wrist protection, making them ideal for high-speed activities like snowboarding, inline skating, and riding Onewheel or electric unicycles. As someone responsible for their family’s well-being, the need to protect hands and wrists is crucial for maintaining one’s livelihood, making these wrist guards an invaluable safety measure.

Comfort:
These wrist guards are built for both protection and comfort. They feature two semi-flexible pieces made of patented Dupont Hytrel material that sandwich the wrist, secured with Velcro straps. Despite their protective design, they do not feel bulky or heavy. Wearing them is akin to having a splint or brace on your wrists, providing both protection and comfort.

Style:
In addition to their comfort, the Flexmeter wrist guards offer a stylish look. Their design not only keeps you safe but also earns compliments from others. The positive feedback from peers encourages consistent usage.

Protection:
While not tested in a fall scenario, the wrist guards offer high levels of wrist and palm protection. Designed by surgeons, they resemble a splint in their construction, instilling confidence in their protective capabilities. These guards are particularly effective in safeguarding against abrasions, ensuring road rash or “hamburger hands” is avoided.

However, the wrist guards may interfere with elbow pads due to their extended forearm coverage. They may also become uncomfortable when used with devices that require active hand control, making them less suitable for activities like biking and electric scooters. Additionally, wearing gloves over the wrist guards can be a challenge.

The wrist guards work best for hands-free, high-speed activities like snowboarding, inline skating, Onewheel, or electric unicycles. They might not offer protection for fingers, and users should not expect this feature.

It’s important to note that in humid climates, users might experience more sweat due to the wrist guards, although the inner fabric helps wick away moisture.

Overall, the Flexmeter D30 Double Sided wrist guards offer exceptional wrist protection without compromising style or comfort. However, users should be aware of some minor inconveniences and limitations, making them most suitable for specific high-speed activities.

TiGr BLUE Bike Lock Review 2021: Elegant & Stronger! https://oneradwheel.com/the-new-tigr-blue-mini-bike-lock/ Sat, 09 Jan 2021 03:08:00 +0000 https://oneradwheel.com/?p=969 We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

“TiGr Blue Lock: Light, Strong, and Secure – A Comprehensive Review”

The TiGr Blue Lock has emerged as a robust and lightweight security solution that excels in protecting electric rideable devices, such as Onewheels, bicycles, and more. With a unique design and advanced materials, it provides enhanced security while maintaining portability.

TiGr Blue Lock: A Game-Changer

The TiGr Blue Lock is the latest offering from TiGr, following their previous titanium versions – the TiGr mini+ and TiGr mini. These titanium locks, although lightweight, had limited resistance to cutting attacks.

The new TiGr Blue Lock retains the sleek design of its predecessors while introducing a significant upgrade in materials. The key to its success is the utilization of high carbon steel in its shackle, which enhances its strength and resilience.

Cutting-Edge Performance

To prove the TiGr Blue Lock’s durability, the reviewer conducted cut tests using a hacksaw and two different bolt cutters:

Hacksaw: A new Craftsman hacksaw with a carbon steel blade was used in an attempt to cut the TiGr Blue. After several minutes of effort, the hacksaw barely made a dent in the high carbon steel, leaving the blade considerably dull.

Bolt Cutter #1 (18″): Multiple attempts with these bolt cutters only resulted in shallow dents on the TiGr Blue shackle, demonstrating its resistance to cutting.

Bolt Cutter #2 (24″): A double compound HK Porter 24″ set was used, which was considered heavy-duty and more potent. Surprisingly, the TiGr Blue lock withstood multiple attacks, with no cuts being made.

These tests confirmed the remarkable strength of the high carbon steel used in the TiGr Blue Lock’s shackle, significantly improving its resistance to cut attacks.

Locking Mechanism and Design

The TiGr Lock’s elegant design comprises a shackle that locks securely when a bolt extends between its two ends, preventing disassembly until the bolt is retracted. The locking mechanism’s simplicity enhances its effectiveness, providing ease of use and security.

Shortcomings and Conclusion

While the TiGr Blue Lock offers an excellent blend of convenience and security, motivated thieves may be tempted to target its thin metal design. In the event of an attack, the protective plastic covering may be damaged, potentially leading to corrosion.

In summary, the TiGr Blue Lock has established itself as the go-to choice for users seeking a lightweight and reliable security solution. It ensures the safety of Onewheels, bicycles, and other valuable assets. However, users should remain cautious and avoid placing their locked items in precarious situations.

2020 Onewheel Black Friday Deals (updated 11/16) https://oneradwheel.com/onewheel-black-friday-discount/ https://oneradwheel.com/onewheel-black-friday-discount/#comments Sun, 01 Nov 2020 01:14:00 +0000 https://oneradwheel.com/?p=871 I am compiling a list of some Onewheel related Black Friday Deals. Check back often as this list will be updated through Cyber Monday. Got a tip on a deal? Share it in the comments below.

(Please consider making purchases through my affiliate links that help to support my website and YouTube Channel at no additional cost to you.)

11/27/2020: Amazon has some deals on wrist guards and helmets.

11/26/2020: Onewheel XR is $175 off like the last few years. Onewheel Pint is $75 off like last year. If you need the stuff they are bundling, there are more potential savings for Future Motion gear.

2020 Black Friday
Onewheel XR 2020 Black Friday
Onewheel Pint Black Friday 2020

11/25/2020: Jimmy Chang Merch? Here’s a code for 20% off which expires 12/1/2020 to get some PEV inspired merchandise my daughter and I designed at Teespring: END2020

11/16/2020: Need a fender!? This is the time to get one at Craft&Ride with up to 50% off! Check it out at Craft&Ride!

  • Craft&Ride Black Friday Sales with up to 50% off fenders! Check it out at Craft&Ride.
  • ONEWHEEL XR (Future Motion): For the past two years the Onewheel XR has been discounted $175 off. Even though the XR is a year older, I expect the discount to be the same since demand for the 3 year old tech is still high and there is no competition or replacement model in sight.
  • ONEWHEEL PINT (FUTURE MOTION): The Pint was discounted $75 off last year and expect the same for this year given the high demand for the device as it enters its second Black Friday.
  • Accessories on the official Onewheel site were discounted 15% off. While the bundled deals are what Future Motion is really pushing, I recommend staying away from bundled deals unless I really need all the crap they are throwing in.
  • SUPrents: if you’re going to buy a Onewheel, support a the little guys and your local dealers. You can get a pretty good discount on a used Onewheel at SUPrents if they have any left. Below are some SUPrent codes to try:
  1. Use code FAMILYTIME2 at checkout to receive the additional $25 off 2 boards.
  2. • Use code FAMILYTIME3 at checkout to receive $50 off 3 boards.
  3. • Use code FAMILYTIME4 at checkout to receive $75 off 4 boards.

If it’s September, October or November and you’re looking to buy a Onewheel, I would recommend holding off for a little bit if you like saving money. If there is anything to be learned from recent history, it’s that Future Motion, the makers of the Onewheel rarely run sales on their one wheeled devices however they have consistently discounted their Onewheels for Black Friday.

How much of a discount will there be on the different Onewheels this year? I’m not privy to that information, but I do have information on what has been done on past Black Fridays which we can learn a lot from.

While past performance is no guarantee of future results, I’m still going to look into the Past to try to predict what Future Motion is going to do in the future.

Prediction #1

My first prediction is not going to be a bold one, I’m not really sticking my neck out there when I say this: The Onewheel XR will see a discount for Black Friday!

How can I say this with such confidence? Future Motion has discounted their flagship Onewheel on Black Friday since 2016.

In 2016 the V1 retailed for $1499 and for Black Friday it was on sale for $1299, a discount of $200.

In 2017 Future Motion discounted their Flagship Onewheel Plus from $1499 to $1374, a discount of $125.

In 2018 and 2019 Future Motion continued the tradition and discounted their Flagship Onewheel XR from $1799 to $1624, a discount of $175.

The older Onewheel Plus which was still for sale, went from $1499 to $1249, a discount of $250. Of course looking back, they were probably clearing inventory in preparation for the Pint.

What will Future Motion do this year? I’m not going to predict numbers for you, but armed with this information, you can come up with your own numbers. But I can say with confidence that the Onewheel XR will see a discount of at least $175.

So if you are thinking about buying a Onewheel right now, either new or used, and you feel you can wait till Black Friday, then I’d wait till Future Motion makes their yearly Black Friday deal announcement.

Prediction #2

The newest model Onewheel, the Onewheel Pint, will see a discount or some sort of promotion for Black Friday. Last year it was $75 off and I expect it will be the same this time around.

Quick tip:

Don’t fall for the advertised deals that will wow you with big discounts like $375 off a Onewheel XR. Look at the fine print and you’ll find the “up to $375 off” and to get that big of a discount you’ll have to bundle your Onewheel purchase often with items you don’t really need or could get for less from third party vendors.

Here’s an example from 2019:

And this is from 2018. Beware the “up to” trick:

After Halloween passes and the kids have recovered from their sugar high induced craziness, and the world settles back into normalcy (as normal as things can be in our new COVID world), Christmas songs start playing on the radio.

Now that we are past Halloween, we can prepare for the next big holiday frenzy to celebrate and participate in gluttony and excess… Black Friday… the biggest shopping day of the year.

Black Friday marks the unofficial start to the Christmas season and many stores and vendors kick it off with some big sales.

I love Black Friday and Cyber Monday because if you know where to look, you can score some amazing deals. I love a great deal; I always have and I’m sure a lot of you do too.

The Biggest Reason Micromobility Personal Electric Vehicles are Booming https://oneradwheel.com/the-biggest-reason-micromobility-personal-electric-vehicles-are-booming/ https://oneradwheel.com/the-biggest-reason-micromobility-personal-electric-vehicles-are-booming/#comments Thu, 03 Sep 2020 04:12:29 +0000 https://oneradwheel.com/?p=1749 We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

Micromobility devices, such as electric bicycles, scooters, Onewheels, unicycles, and skateboards, have gained immense popularity, experiencing remarkable growth during the pandemic. The surge in demand for these electric mobility options has put pressure on distributors to keep up.

The growth in Personal Electric Vehicles (PEVs) can be attributed to several factors. The proliferation of rental electric scooters and bikes in major cities exposed people to micromobility’s convenience and affordability. When the pandemic led to the removal of rental fleets, many turned to ownership for their personal transportation.

Micromobility serves as a solution for avoiding crowded public transport, maintaining social distancing, and offering efficient last-mile travel. It offers diverse options for urban commuting.

What sets micromobility apart is its ability to transform childhood modes of transportation into appealing options for adults. Electric motors, lithium batteries, and gyroscopes make devices like electric skateboards, scooters, and unicycles attractive to people of all ages. The fun factor of riding these vehicles brings back a sense of wonder.

The boom in micromobility can be attributed to an abundance of options, advanced technology, lower costs, increased reliability, and the availability of excellent warranties, support, and maintenance from trusted vendors like Ewheels. This combination, along with pandemic-induced demand, has placed micromobility at a significant inflection point, contributing to its remarkable growth.

When it comes to choosing the best personal electric vehicle (PEV) or micromobility device, several key factors should be considered. These factors include portability, size, range, learning curve, safety, and the fun factor. Here’s a breakdown of some popular PEVs:

Electric Skateboard (e-skate):

Portability: Easy to carry, especially if you’re familiar with skateboards.

Size: Compact and can fit in a locker or under a desk when not in use.

Range: Typically 10-20 miles depending on the model.

Learning curve: Moderate for beginners, but manageable.

Safety: Riders should be cautious of rough roads, debris, and cracks in the pavement.

Fun: Offers a fun and enjoyable experience, reminiscent of childhood skateboarding.

Electric Bicycle (e-bike):

Portability: Heavier and less portable compared to other PEVs.

Size: Most e-bikes won’t fit in a car’s trunk unless foldable.

Range: Range varies by model; many have pedal-assist features.

Learning curve: Extremely easy, assuming you know how to ride a bike.

Safety: Similar to riding a regular bicycle, with the added power of an electric motor.

Fun: Ideal for those who enjoy cycling and want to explore new places.

Electric Scooter (e-scooter):

Portability: Highly portable, with most models folding easily.

Size: Conveniently fits in the trunk of a car or can be stored under a desk.

Range: Varies based on the make and model of the scooter.

Learning curve: Easiest learning curve among PEVs.

Safety: Offers a sense of security, but responsible riding is essential.

Fun: Surprisingly fun and becoming a popular mode of adult transportation.

Onewheel:

Portability: Compact but may feel heavy for long distances.

Size: Easy to store in a car trunk or office, but not suitable for most lockers.

Range: Varies by model, but riders often crave more range.

Learning curve: Moderately easy, especially for those with board sports experience.

Safety: Considered one of the riskier PEVs; beginners should wear safety gear and respect its limitations.

Fun: Despite its risks, it offers a unique and enjoyable riding experience.

Electric Unicycle (EUC):

Portability: Extremely portable, with trolley handles for easy movement.

Size: Convenient for carrying up and down stairs and fits well in car trunks.

Range: Excellent range on mid to high-tier models.

Learning curve: Steeper learning curve, but rewarding once mastered.

Safety: Respect for the device is established through the learning process.

Fun: Offers hands-free speed and great range, making it highly rewarding to ride.

The best PEV for you depends on your budget and intended use. EUCs are a top choice for their hands-free riding, speed, and range. Each PEV has its unique strengths and weaknesses, and personal preferences play a significant role in the selection process.

My FriendWithA Experience and Review https://oneradwheel.com/my-friendwitha-experience-and-review/ https://oneradwheel.com/my-friendwitha-experience-and-review/#comments Thu, 13 Aug 2020 02:10:00 +0000 https://oneradwheel.com/?p=1021 We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

Friendwitha is a Seattle-based platform that operates as an Airbnb or VRBO for gear rental. It enables users to rent equipment locally through a peer-to-peer network. If you have items sitting unused, you can rent them out and earn up to $1000 per month. The service provides insurance protection coverage and facilitates communication between renters and owners.

Renting gear via Friendwitha is a straightforward process. Users can rent a wide range of equipment, from electric unicycles to GoPros. The registration process involves identity verification through a driver’s license and credit card details. Communication with the gear owner is facilitated through a secure chat system, protecting personal information.

The service offers a level of coverage for accidents, injuries, or damage to rented gear, providing peace of mind for owners. This can be particularly valuable when renting items with the potential for accidents or damage, like Onewheels.

Friendwitha is backed by partners PrimeIs and Athos Insurance, providing substantial property insurance and liability guarantees for lenders, covering up to $125,000 and $100,000, respectively.

However, there are some limitations to the platform. The inventory may be limited in smaller cities, but it’s expected to grow as the service gains popularity. Concerns about the treatment of rented gear and wear and tear are valid, making it a personal decision whether to rent out valuable items.

As the service expands, it could benefit from implementing user reviews to provide insight into the behavior of renters and establish trust. For those interested in Friendwitha, using the provided link or coupon code “Electric” offers a $10 bonus on the first rental. This helps support the platform and the reviewer, at no extra cost to users.

Overall, Friendwitha is a promising platform for those looking to rent or lend gear, offering a level of insurance coverage and ease of use, but its success may depend on its growth and available inventory in different locations.
