The Float Life Fender is a cost-effective choice for Onewheel enthusiasts, providing excellent everyday utility. If you’ve already decided to shield yourself from dirt, dust, mud, and water while riding, this fender is a valuable addition.
Having explored various fender options, I stumbled upon Jeff McCosker’s Float Life Fender as a more budget-friendly alternative to Future Motion’s pricey accessories. Having used it for over 100 miles, including a journey to Maui, Hawaii, here’s my experience:
This fender is straightforward, keeping my lower body clean. Its tool-free installation and removal capabilities are a huge plus, and the tapered design improves visibility of your Onewheel’s wheel, which the stock fender conceals.
The fender’s flexibility allows easy transport, although I rarely needed to remove it during my initial 100 miles of use. When debris accumulates between the fender and tire, its flexibility makes it easy to dislodge by tapping the fender or, if necessary, by removing it with tool-free thumb screws.
However, there are a couple of downsides. The fender can be noisier than rigid ones, and traditional noise reduction techniques don’t apply. Additionally, if you plan to attach accessories directly to the fender, the flexibility might limit your options.
In summary, if you seek an affordable fender option with straightforward utility, the Float Life Fender is a solid choice, especially if you don’t intend to mount accessories directly onto it. You can purchase it [here](insert link).
