Riding a Onewheel vs Onewheeling vs Floating

We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

Describing the exhilaration of riding a Onewheel has its challenges, as I’ve discovered on my blog and YouTube channel. The Onewheel community often uses “Floating” due to the sensation it offers. Yet, outside this circle, “float” tends to evoke different imagery, like drifting down a river.

For instance, “Let’s go for a float” may conjure visions of a lazy river, not the Onewheel experience. And the term extends to people, leading to questions like, “Are you a floater?”

I aim to find the ideal terminology to describe Onewheel riding in an instant messaging era. “Riding the Onewheel” is a straightforward choice, but it can be verbose in texting. Other board sports use the sport as a verb, like “snowboarding” or “skateboarding.”

Using “Onewheel” as a verb simplifies communication. For instance, “The weather’s great, let’s go Onewheeling!” or the concise, “The weather’s great, let’s Onewheel!”

I’d like to hear your preference for describing Onewheel riding and what you call someone who rides a Onewheel. Until a consensus emerges, I’ll mix the terms in my content.

Float on, Onewheel on, and Ride the Onewheel, my friends!
